Ever since the infamous anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela passed on at the age of ninety five. Many celebrities and well-known political figures have publically spoken out concerning their sadness over Mandela’s passing. British royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William has attended the UK Premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom at Leicester Square.
Describing Mandela as ‘extraordinary and inspiring’, Prince William expressed his sadness over Mandela’s passing to the watching media. He ended his official statement by saying that his ‘thoughts and prayers’ are with Mandela and his family at this current difficult time.
The appearance of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sprung about flagging tongues from fellow attendees of the Nelson Mandela movie. CTBF trustee Derek Cooper told the media that seeing Kate was great because last time she was stuck at home suffering with morning sickness while pregnant with her son George. Hilda Prewett also raved about the couple, saying how excited she was to be able to speak with Kate, in whom she has a mutual acquaintance. Unfortunately for readers, there is no interesting celeb gossip concerning this couple. They paid their respects to this late respected leader and mingled with the other guests.
Prince William and his wife are just two of multiple people that are grieving the anti-racism leader. The current U.S. President Barack Obama spoke of his admiration for Mandela as well as Cuba’s Raul Castro. British Prime Minister David Cameron and French president Francois Hollande also paid their official condolences to the late South African leader. Fellow South African Charlize Theron also spoke of her sadness as well as Naomi Campbell and U2’s Bono.
